The Maestrat is an area of outstanding natural beauty as yet undiscovered. There is very little tourism here and life is wonderfully relaxed, with a “manana” ambience that pervades the ancient villages and the surrounding countryside.
The cost of living is low, the weather is beautiful, the landscape is green and exhilarating and the people are warm and friendly. Incomers are made to feel very welcome and local people love to test your Spanish!
All the properties advertised by ImoMaestrat are for sale in or around the small country town of Atzeneta del Maestrat, which lies 35kms from the Mediterranean coast. The new resort of Marina D’Or is under construction on the coast and a new airport is being built to cater for the expected rise in destination tourism. Marina D’Or is adjacent to Orepesa del Mar, which is on the Costa Azahar (the Orange Blossom coast).
It takes about 35 minutes to travel to Orepesa by car from Atzeneta. The construction of the new airport, which is due to be finished in 2008, means that surrounding roads are being upgraded and a new link is scheduled to join the main A7 motorway too. The road from Cabanes to Orepesa is being widened and improved so the journey time will decrease substantially once the new road is finished.
Yet in Atzeneta we will have the best of both worlds. We are sufficiently inland with two mountain ranges between us and the coast, to ensure that mass tourism will do nothing but benefit us. The new airport is far enough away not to spoil the peace and tranquillity of this valley and yet it will be close enough to provide a major asset in terms of accessibility. This is, without doubt an area to watch – it will be a hot-spot in the future.

Selling prices include our commission. Legal costs have to be added to the purchase price. All buyers are responsible for their own legal costs and we strongly recommend that all buyers use the services of a reputable local lawyer who will carry out all necessary searches and ensure that all aspects of your purchase are secure and legal. The lawyer will prepare the transfer deeds and arrange the registration of deeds and the payment of taxes etc. The lawyer, notary, registration fees and taxes amount to approximately 10% of the purchase price of the property.

We will also help you find local accommodation if you wish. We will also be very happy to introduce you to other agents and specialists so that you can compare prices etc, if you wish.
Various types of self-catering accommodation is available for you to use as a base, from a studio flat to a farmhouse with four bedrooms and three bathrooms farmhouse. Bed and Breakfast is also possible. Alternatively, we can help you find accommodation elsewhere.
